PS&C Partners With Toshiba

Power Systems & Controls is proud to announce a partnership with Toshiba of Tokyo, Japan. Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate. PS&C will begin offering Toshiba UPS systems, as well as, static frequency converters later next month. These solid-state systems will certainly diversify PS&C’s current product offerings and further support the rotary products already in place. PS&C understands that the needs of our customers change with time, and that as a company we must evolve in order to better position ourselves to support our customers and clients in the future. Representatives from Toshiba met with PS&C executives early last month to finalize the project.

PS&C Engineering personnel will be travelling for training this month, in order to learn about the equipment and receive certifications from Toshiba. Power Systems & Controls will be the only company in Virginia permitted to represent Toshiba in the area. PS&C is excited about this move as it will allow us to better transition into the solid-state topology. It will also provide important insight for PS&C as we begin to learn about solid-state technology, and how we can incorporate this new technology moving forward. We at Power Systems & Controls know that there is never just one solution for every application, and that we have to offer as many viable solutions as possible to best support our customers in bringing their projects to fruition. We look forward to this partnership and are excited for what the future holds.

Power Systems & Controls has a state of the art production and test facility located in Richmond, VA allowing for easy access to Washington, DC and the east coast. Long Island Rail Road Selects PS&C

The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is a commuter system provider serving Long Island and New York. It is the second busiest commuter railroad in North America serving millions of passengers each year. Established in 1834 and having operated continuously since then, it is the oldest US railroad still operating under its original name and charter. There are 124 stations on the LIRR with more than 700 miles of track, and it is publicly owned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Power Systems & Controls was contacted by Long Island Rail Road to participate in a tender project for two Frequency Converter systems that they needed to support signaling railroad operations. There was numerous stages in the review process, and countless drawings from Engineering were required as PS&C continually worked with LIRR to design the perfect solution for their project.

LIRR selected PS&C because we offered a super product, great customer service, and our attention to detail from incorporating Engineering’s insight and support. We beat out numerous other competitors for the project. PS&C is already in production of the (2) large Rotary Frequency Converters, which should be ready to ship ahead of schedule. Power Systems & Controls is excited to help and support LIRR, and can’t wait to work with them again in the near future.

PS&C Now Offers Containers & Shelters

Power Systems & Controls’ metal fabrication group within manufacturing has taken on the additional role to design and develop customized/modified Enclosures, Containers, and Shelters to house both our products, as well as, other power systems. PS&C feels this is a great avenue to support our current operations and products, but also has potential to expand into supporting tactical operations and D.O.D. efforts in the future. PS&C will initially only offer enclosures for our own systems; however, we are already in development of rapid deployment and tactical shelters.

PS&C will also focus on developing Expandable Shelters, Portable Data Centers, and Transportable Office Centers. According to PS&C Research & Development, “We feel that the demand for temporary shelters will only continue to grow and accelerate in the coming years. Therefore, we at Power Systems & Controls want to position ourselves to be the premier provider of these systems in the future for our growing network of customers and clients.”

PS&C has already begun to install the infrastructure necessary to support this new branch of operations. PS&C expanding the number of Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers on staff, but are also bringing on talented Structural Engineers with previous experience in the field. This way Power Systems can integrate their “know-how” with PS&C knowledge of power and electronics. Also new equipment is already being procured for future logistics and fabrication needs. Power Systems & Controls is excited about this new venture and will have more updates to announce in the upcoming months!

New Industrial Motor Generator

Power Systems & Controls is proud to announce the Series IMG, Industrial Motor Generator, which will be available immediately. The industrial M-G set is the ideal answer for Industrial or Commercial customers who are experiencing power quality issues but cannot afford/need a full UPS system for their facility. The Series IMG is a large, robust piece of equipment, which is designed to support a large single piece of machinery or a whole facility, dependent on the application.

The Series IMG is available in the standard horizontal configuration; however, it is also available in a vertical configurations as well. Systems are offered up to the MVA level for low or medium voltage applications. Also the M-G is available in 600V and other international voltages. The rugged M-G Set can also be designed to tolerate a 40% drop from nominal input voltage for 30 seconds without affecting the load. Engineering has been working hard on this the last few months to meet the deadline, and all of us are excited about its future potential in the market.
