PS&C Supports Chilean Navy

Power Systems & Controls was selected by the Chilean Navy to provide a range of Static Frequency Converters to help power sensitive electrical equipment on their frigates. The electrical equipment is being installed in order to support their objective of protecting the over 2,600 miles of coast. The Series SFC converters will provide 400Hz power and are designed to be permanently installed in the frigates. Unfortunately, we can’t go into too much detail because of the “sensitive” nature of the application. We look forward to supporting them on this project, as well as, future opportunities where we could help support their operations.

Power Systems & Controls has a state of the art production and test facility located in Richmond, VA allowing for easy access to Washington, DC and the east coast. PS&C has the unique ability to support both static (solid-state) and rotary (motor generator) UPS, frequency converter, and power conditioning requirements as we are one of the few companies in the world that manufactures both types of technology. Power Systems & Controls is an employee owned company and has a long history of successfully supporting mission critical applications across the world. PS&C – The Power Is On!

PS&C Helps Power Nuclear Plant in Argentina

Power Systems & Controls is set to provide over half a dozen Static Frequency Converters to provide isolated and continuous 50Hz power for the operation of a major nuclear plant in Argentina. This has been a multi-year project, which PS&C has helped support from the very beginning as we helped size and specify the correct units needed, as well as, provided logistics support to deliver the units to Canada and then to Argentina. The units for Candu Energy arrived on time and budget. We look forward to supporting Candu now and into the future.

Candu Energy Inc. is a Canadian owned subsidiary of Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin Inc., specializing in the design and supply of nuclear reactors, as well as nuclear reactor products and services. Candu Energy Inc. was created in 2011 when parent company SNC-Lavalin purchased the commercial reactor division of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), along with the development and marketing rights to CANDU Reactor technology. The reactor products offered by Candu Energy Inc. are the CANDU 6 and Enhanced CANDU 6 reactors. Candu Energy Inc. also specializes in advanced fuel cycle technology that exploits the fuel cycle flexibility of the CANDU design, including fuels based on Recovered Uranium (RU) from Light Water Reactors (LWRs) and Mixed-Oxide fuel (MOX) incorporating thorium or plutonium.
