AEGIS Selects PS&C

The AEGIS Combat System is an integrated naval weapons system developed by the Missile and Surface Radar Division of RCA, and is now supported and produced by Lockheed Martin. The weapons system utilizes powerful computer and radar technology to track and guide weapons to destroy incoming enemy targets. The word “Aegis” is a Greek mythology reference to a protective shield as the Aegis was the shield of the Goddess Athena.

The AEGIS system was initially implemented by the U.S. Navy but is now used around the world, including: Japanese Navy, Spanish Navy, Norwegian Navy, Korean Navy, and Australian Navy. It makes up the backbone of the United States missile defense system and is currently being adopted by NATO across Eastern Europe as a deterrent against the possibility of future threats.

Power Systems & Controls was selected by the contractors responsible for the project to provide Static Frequency Converters, which would supply 400Hz to sensitive electrical equipment. We can’t go into too much detail due to the sensitive nature of the application, but we look forward to the small part PS&C has to play in helping to protect the United States of America.

PS&C Protects Holloman AFB

Holloman AFB is located in New Mexico’s Tularosa Basin. Holloman Air Force Base is home of the 49th Wing and supports national security objectives by deploying worldwide to support peacetime and wartime contingencies. The wing provides combat-ready Airmen, and trains General Atomics MQ-1 Predator and General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper pilots. Additionally, the wing delivers air transportable clinics and expeditionary airfield resources while providing support to more than 17,000 military and civilian personnel. The wing has a proud history of service in World War II, Korea, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia and NATO-led Operation Allied Force.

Holloman AFB selected the Series MC rotary UPS to replace older static UPS units, which they had determined to be obsolete. The new PS&C Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply systems will be dedicated to protecting their critical communication and information processes. Holloman personnel decided on PS&C because our rotary UPS systems offer complete electrical isolation and have a robust design. Additionally, they preferred the long end of life (EOL) of the RUPS when compared to static as it provided twice the number of years of service when compared, which was crucial for their ROI review and analysis.

PS&C Arrives in Guam

Power Systems & Controls has been selected by the U.S. Navy to support their Guam Naval Base, which is part of the Joint Region Marianas, a large military installation that includes Andersen Air Force Base. PS&C will be providing over a dozen Static Frequency Converters to provide 400Hz power in support of their aircraft operations. The U.S. Navy considered quotations from several different suppliers, but decided to go with PS&C because of the rugged design of our units and that we were the only OEM able to support our equipment after installation and initial start-up due to our international Field Service division.

The Naval Base Guam is an excellent facility geographically located in the central Pacific, which gives it strategic importance as the Navy begins to focus on the pacific as an area of significance. Its primary mission is to assist Pacific Command and support any actions that need to be carried out in the region. PS&C looks forward to our continued efforts to help support the U.S. Navy and are excited to add Guam to our growing list of international installations.
