60Hz power is the predominant frequency in the world inside North and Central America. However, due to worldwide sourcing, 50Hz & 60Hz power has become an interchangeable commodity and as such, there is a greater need for 50Hz frequency conversion. There are 2 typical differences in the power from 60Hz to 50Hz, the voltage and the cycles per second (Hz). The great thing about PS&C frequency converters are that our systems simultaneously convert both the voltage and frequency (Hertz/Hz).
What is 60Hz Frequency?
A 60Hz electrical system means that it does 60 cycles of frequencies per second while 50Hz means that it completes 50 cycles per second. 60Hz is usually associated with 440, 460, 480, & 600 voltages. As power/electricity has evolved across the world, 60Hz is typically found in North America and Central America while 50Hz is found elsewhere in the world. However, there are exceptions to every rule. For instance, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia they have 380V, 60Hz.
