Peace Vector VI, Egypt

                                                                   

The US Government and Egypt announced an agreement to sell 24 new build F-16s for the Egyptian Air Force. Financing for the sale is in place through the US FMS program. The United States agreed to sell Egypt $3.2 billion worth of new American weapons, including 24 F-16 Block 40 aircraft, 200 M-1A1 tanks and 32 Patriot missiles. Egypt would pay for the arms from the $1.2 billion a year it gets in US military aid.

Power Systems & Controls worked with Contrak International to win the project to provide Frequency Converters to power the twenty-four (24) F-16 fighter jets. The converters chosen were the Series RFC Rotary Frequency Converters. They will be installed in Cairo, Egypt. The Series RFC provides reliable power to the load while converting the input frequency. Output voltage and frequency are maintained within specifications by internal control logic. Under normal operation, the Series RFC acts as a rotating filter protecting the load from utility transients and brownouts. We are excited to work with Contrak International in supporting the Egyptian military’s power quality needs now and into the future.

Flywheel Technology Arrives

 

Power Systems & Controls has been working with some of the leading flywheel manufacturers in the country for some time in incorporating this technology into our advanced UPS systems. Due to these efforts, PS&C is proud to announce the release of two new product lines. The Series EPM Extended Power Module is a standalone power module designed to replace or supplement batteries in a UPS system. It is an energy storage system that creates power by means of kinetic energy conversion rather than the chemical reaction process utilized in battery strings. PS&C’s Flywheel technology is an extremely reliable source of emergency power developed to support the D.C. voltage long enough for the standby diesel generator to start and be transferred on line.

The rotating mass is driven by an induction motor through a variable frequency drive. The D.C. output is derived from a three phase synchronous output converted via a rectifier. As the standard construction is a two bearing, single shaft machine there is few serviceable components in the system; making maintenance requirements minimum. PS&C Series EPM combines the latest engineering methods with “Brute Force” technology. The extended power module offers the durability and rigidness of a battery without the maintenance required or the potential problems associated with them.

The second flywheel technological breakthrough was the Series NBNo Break Battery less Rotary UPS. The Series NB combines two proven power protection systems into one complete package. Standard systems are available up to 2,500kVA at voltages ranging from 208 to 13,800. The heart of the “No Break” system is the extended power module. The motor-generator, utilizing state-of-the-art mechanical energy storage, accepts raw electrical power from the normal power company and conditions it to computer grade electrical power. Should normal power fail, the Series NB will start the back-up engine generator and seamlessly provide continuous electrical power to the load.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory

                                            

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is an American science and technology national laboratory. It is a part of the U.S. Department of Energy. It is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and was established in 1943.

Power Systems & Controls was selected to supply rotary uninterruptible power supplies to provide clean, protected and isolated power for their mission critical research operations. Due to the sensitive nature of their operations, we are unable to provide any additional information at this time.

PS&C Portable Data Centers

 

In early 2000, when Power Systems & Controls first launched our complete Enclosure-Container-Shelter offering a focus was always on the development of a Portable Data Center that would fit in a 20′ and/or 40′ footprint. We felt that both our government and corporate customers would appreciate the flexibility offered by such a system, especially as the importance of data centers increases around the world.

PS&C is proud to announce that only after a few years we have realized such a system with our new line of portable data centers, including: Portable Reinforced Data Center (FEBR), Portable Secure Data Center, and our standard Portable Tactical Data Center. They come in a 20′ container, 40′ container, or stick built to specific specifications. According to Philip Heimrich in Engineering, “Portable data centers were a natural progression for Power Systems & Control as we have a complete line of UPS systems to support them and have been working with the data center industry for decades. We look forward to this exciting new chapter in PS&C history”
