The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is a commuter system provider serving Long Island and New York. It is the second busiest commuter railroad in North America serving millions of passengers each year. Established in 1834 and having operated continuously since then, it is the oldest US railroad still operating under its original name and charter. There are 124 stations on the LIRR with more than 700 miles of track, and it is publicly owned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Power Systems & Controls was contacted by Long Island Rail Road to participate in a tender project for two Frequency Converter systems that they needed to support signaling railroad operations. There was numerous stages in the review process, and countless drawings from Engineering were required as PS&C continually worked with LIRR to design the perfect solution for their project.

LIRR selected PS&C because we offered a super product, great customer service, and our attention to detail from incorporating Engineering’s insight and support. We beat out numerous other competitors for the project. PS&C is already in production of the (2) large Rotary Frequency Converters, which should be ready to ship ahead of schedule.
