Southwest Research Institute has selected Power Systems & Controls to provide 400Hz Rotary Frequency Converters for their test lab. Their test laboratory checks the validity of aircraft components, and they selected PS&C’s Series RFC because of the equipment’s long end of life (EOL), superior design, and PS&C’s acclaimed customer service.

PS&C Enters Solar Market

                                                        

Power Systems & Controls is working with Parker-Hannifin Corporation in developing Grid Tie Inverter Enclosures and Lithium-ion Battery Containers to support solar operations world-wide. Both PS&C’s Engineering and Container Manufacturing groups will be supporting the project. The inverter enclosure and lithium-ion battery containers will be housing their unique power systems, which will provide 20MW of power from solar fields. Mitsubishi is providing the lithium-ion battery systems.

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into electric current using the photovoltaic effect.

Photovoltaics are an important and relatively inexpensive source of electrical energy where grid power is inconvenient, unreasonably expensive to connect, or simply unavailable. However, as the cost of solar electricity is falling, solar power is also increasingly being used even in grid-connected situations as a way to feed low-carbon energy into the grid. We are excited to be supporting Parker and Mitsubishi on this project and look forward to what our partners have in store for the future.

Paris Air Show 2013

                                                          

Power Systems & Controls will be travelling to International Paris Air Show 2013 at Le Bourget Airport in Paris France from June 17 – June 23, 2013. The Paris Air Show claims to be the world’s oldest air show seeing as it was first established in 1909. The airshow is an important event in the international aerospace and defense industry calendar, providing an opportunity to demonstrate civilian and military aircraft to potential customers and investors. The Paris event starts with four professional days closed to the general public. It then opens to the public from Friday to Sunday. The event is held every two years at the same airfield that Charles Lindbergh landed after the first solo transatlantic flight.
