Houston – Power Systems & Controls exhibited the Series SC Synchronous Condenser at the 1996 Southwest Electrical Exposition held at the J.R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. PS&C, along with our local representatives, Power Reps Inc. (PRI), dominated isle 600 with six separate booths highlighting power quality offerings such as harmonic metering, substation design, transformers, and PS&C’s Power Conditioning products for the industrial power user.

The Series SC was extremely well received as an alternative to capacitors for Power Factor Correction. Utilities in the Houston area are among the first to acknowledge their additional transmission cost to lower power factor customers. Local industrial electrical rates account for this with kVA demand charges. The Series SC has the ability to correct power factor regardless of harmonics, without switching transients, and at a reasonable price, generated a lot of interest at the show.
