The Series XC is a product undergoing a radical evolution. Exciting things are happening which will improve the operating efficiency, improve THD, digitally display UPS parameters and status, and communicate with the user’s SCADA system, or even to PS&C’s HQ computers in Richmond. Some improvements such as a new rectifier control board, new inverter control logic, and a universal detector board will be invisible to the user. They will improve reliability and enhance performance. Other changes such as the strategy to eliminate single point failures will improve the Series XC overall MTBF and MTTR.

The most exciting of the upgrades to the Series XC is the new digital display. The display does the expected by displaying the normal UPS voltages, currents, PF, frequencies, power, and efficiency. Unlike the competition, the Series XC display is a bright easily read vacuum florescent four-line alpha-numeric display, with 11 mm high characters. This display will allow the user or a service technician to access the UPS status and history data. The display logic is the source for much of the data, which the PLC will store for access by the user’s computer monitoring system or PS&C’s computer monitors. This will give PS&C a powerful new maintenance and diagnostic tool to help support our customer’s operations.
