Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric (now MidAmerican Energy Company) is an electric and gas utility. The company is in the business of generating, transmitting, distributing, and selling electric energy, as well as, distributing, selling, and transporting natural gas. The company derives its electrical approximately 70% from coal, gas and oil burning plants and 30% from nuclear plants. Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric serves central and eastern Iowa and the Moline and Rock Island areas of Illinois.
