Isolation Motor Generators
Motor Generator Sets (Also called MG sets) provide clean reliable power by isolating the electricity across the system. The electricity runs the motor, which spins the generator to provide new electricity. The motor generator cleans and conditions the power, while isolating the load at the same time. In addition, the Motor Generator Set absorbs load harmonics and produces a pure sine-wave output. A Motor Generator Set offers many benefits, which are ideal for any critical load. Some of these benefits include electrical isolation, load harmonic absorption, pure sinusoidal waveform, and filtering. However, they also posses natural commutation, reliability, and long end of life, i.e. EOL. Motor Generator Sets also simplify maintenance programs. As a result, this provides superior reliability, significantly reduced cost of ownership and eliminates costly power disturbances.

A PS&C's Motor Generator Set is ideal for power conditioning applications because of its simplistic construction. When compared to equivalent static power conditioners, the MG set has more benefit. Furthermore, the mechanical shaft of the motor generator isolates the electrical load from incoming disturbances. This includes spikes, sages, harmonics, and other anomalies. This is not achieved with static power conditioners. In addition, the mechanical shaft allows for electrical isolation. The isolation is one of the main reasons a rotary solution is chose. Electrical isolation is capable because the motor and generator are distinctly separate with their own carefully grounded frames, which are tied together mechanically through precise coupling. This mechanical separation is the only way to electrically separate the utility from the load.
Motor Generator Set Benefits:
An added benefit is sub cycle momentary ride through. This effect from the motor generator set rides through many short "momentary interruptions". Typical ride-through capability with additional mechanical mass is 1 to 5 seconds. This added protection allows the use of mechanical contactors for emergency bypassing. This is extremely beneficial when faced with the steep costs of not properly shutting down expensive manufacturing equipment.
