Power Systems & Controls recently was awarded a contract to supply the critical power backup needs for the Federal Reserve Bank of New Orleans
. The bank, which handles billions of dollars daily, has been plagued by numerous power interruptions to its network of high speed computers. PS&C Series XC Rotary UPS systems
are being installed in a power house on top of a parking garage, adjacent to the main bank building, to solve those problems. A scheduled "online" date for the UPS in early summer will permit the bank to transact its business with "uninterrupted" peace of mind.
Starting in the Fall of 1991
, Power Systems & Controls worked closely with the Mathes' Group
(Consulting engineers to the Federal Reserve Bank) to provide the technical assistance to bring the pieces of the complex project together. Initially the Mathes' Group
was using a German machine as the basis for their design but through the consultative selling skills of PS&C they discovered the superiority of the American design. They responded to PS&C's online reliability, horizontally mounted M-G (Motor Generator)
for total electrical isolation, and separated inverter console for ease of maintenance.
